The Ebene Cybercity Centre is located in Ebene City, the new information technology hub of the island, and just 15km from the capital of Port Louis. Ebene City is also the home of AfriNIC, the Regional Internet Registry for Africa and many major IT companies. Mauritius has a diversified economy with growing industrial, financial and tourist sectors helping to provide a GDP per capita that's ranked in the top 10 in Africa. The economy is mainly dependent on sugarcane plantations, tourism, textiles and services, but other sectors such as seafood processing, information technology and medical tourism are rapidly growing as well. The government's development strategy centres on foreign investment and Mauritius has attracted more than 9,000 offshore entities; many aimed at commerce in India and South Africa while investment in the banking sector has also been significant. The Ebene Cybercity Centre has a videoconferencing studio, secure underground parking and is 20 minutes from the airport.
